Harishchandrapur College, Pipla, Malda has always been a beacon of encouragement for its students to engage in various activities beyond academic pursuits. Since the inception of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in 2018, the College has fervently embraced its principles, fostering a culture of social responsibility and community outreach among its students. With a dedicated capacity of 100 volunteers, the NSS Unit of Harishchandrapur College has been instrumental in organizing and participating in a myriad of impactful initiatives. The NSS volunteers actively engage in diverse activities aimed at serving society and promoting well-being. From organizing blood donation drives to raising awareness about health issues, from participating in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to providing assistance during relief works, the volunteers consistently demonstrate their commitment to making a positive difference in the community. Moreover, the observance and celebration of various National and International days further amplify the spirit of patriotism and global citizenship among the volunteers. The NSS Unit of Harishchandrapur College goes beyond local initiatives, encouraging its volunteers to participate in National-Level Camps such as the National Integration Camp, National Adventure Camp, Special Camp, and Pre-RD Selection Camp. These camps not only provide valuable experiential learning opportunities but also foster camaraderie and unity among participants from diverse backgrounds. The motto “ Not Me But You” resonates deeply with the ethos of selflessness and service that guides the actions of the volunteers. At the helm of this dynamic movement is Dr. Bhupen Ghimirey, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, who serves as the Programme Officer of NSS since 2018. His leadership and mentorship play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and direction of NSS activities at the college. Under his guidance, the NSS continues to inspire and empower students to become proactive agents of change in society. In essence, the NSS at Harishchandrapur College stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the transformative potential of youth engagement. Through their relentless dedication and unwavering commitment to service, the NSS volunteers exemplify the college's encouragement of "Learning Beyond Boundaries" and embody the spirit of responsible citizenship.
